What We Do

Prio1 offers medical and safety training and risk management services. In our training, we teach yacht crew to respond to emergencies appropriately and provide basic emergency care when needed.

  • We train crew on their own yacht, providing the comfort and familiarity of their own working environment
  • By focusing on standard procedures, we teach your crew to cooperate seamlessly, even in emergencies
  • Using your own medical kits and equipment, your crew will get to know these materials and how to use them
  • We deliver our training at any location in the world, at any desired time

Our Team

Prio1 brings together knowledge and expertise from both the medical and maritime fields. All our training sessions are delivered by qualified medical and safety experts. Our certified trainers, registered doctors and nurses, have extensive experience teaching and practicing emergency medicine in a variety of circumstances, including maritime settings.

Our medical team is supported by former sailors with extensive experience as superyacht captain or chief officer. They are intimately familiar with the unique safety challenges and medical risks faced by yachting crew and. Joining these specific backgrounds and expertise enables us to deliver well-rounded training and advisory services to each yacht and crew.

Founders of Prio1 Medical & Safety Training

Cornelis Laffra Co-founder - Trainer
Cornelis grew up in a boating and water sports family, which led him to a career in yachting, more than 20 years ago. He spent many years as chief officer and captain of multiple yachts, working and sailing in diverse regions around the world. As a captain sailing in remote regions and on ocean crossings, Cornelis became acutely aware of how vulnerable yachting crew and guests are in case of emergencies, and of the life-saving importance of having a well-trained and dependable crew. With Prio1, he aims to minimize health and safety risks for crew and guests, and support crew in their confidence and ability to make a difference in case emergencies do occur.

Apart from his work as co-founder and trainer with Prio1 Onboard Medical & Safety Training, Cornelis is also closely involved with Prio1 International Yacht Delivery Services.

Anne Rixt Wadman Co-founder - Trainer

Anne Rixt has 15+ years of experience as an RN, Intensive Care and ambulance nurse. Specialized in pre-hospital life support, she is acutely aware of the crucial importance of the first response provided by bystanders in medical emergencies, before medical professionals arrive.
Anne Rixt is passionate about teaching people the knowledge and basic skills needed to provide acute medical support, especially in circumstances where professional support can be far away – such as on yachts. With Prio1 and as member of the medical team, she is able to transfer her passion onto yachting crew, giving them the skills and routines to act in case of medical emergencies.

Beyond Prio1 Onboard Medical & Safety Training, Anne Rixt is also involved with Prio1 International Yacht Delivery Services, and works as an ambulance nurse in the Netherlands.
